Minamoto no Mitsukuni (源満国)

MINAMOTO no Mitsukuni (year of birth and death unknown) was busho (Japanese military commander) in the mid Heian period. He was the eldest son of MINAMOTO no Mitsuyoshi. His brothers were Yukiyori and Yorisue (some said he was the same person as MINAMOTO no Yorihira), and his child was MINAMOTO no Tamemitsu. According to the description in "Sonpi Bunmyaku" (a text compiled in the fourteenth century that records the lineages of the aristocracy), his official rank was Jugoinoge (Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade), Izu no kuni no jo (Provincial Governor of Izu Province), Totomi no kuni no suke (Assistant Governor of Totomi Province), and Kai no kuni no kami (Governor of Kai Province).

His detailed achievements were unknown, but he built Shukuno-jo Castle in Nose-gun, Settsu Province around 987. Also around 995 to 998, the tradition existed that he was banished to Mikawa Province by disobeying the imperial order and built the temple (present Jofuku-ji Temple) to pray to Buddha for the happiness of the dead mother in Kariyado, Mikawa Province (Kariyado, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture).

He had the daughter of MINAMOTO no Yorinobu, his cousin, married Tamemitsu, the legitimate child, and allied with the Kawachi-Genji (Minamoto clan). In addition, Mitsukuni appeared in the tradition was called 'Mitsukuni TADA' with the family name of Tada most of the time (reason unknown).
